TakeoutFM is a collection of free software applications and services that enable users to enjoy media without ads, user tracking, and proprietary walled garden services.

That’s the idea behind the name takeout… media is purchased and taken elsewhere.

Work started on Takeout in early 2020 and it has evolved over the years from a server with a web UI to a system that now includes native apps for Android, Android TV, Wear OS, macOS, iOS, and Linux, along with Android Auto support. More history is available in a post on Medium.

TakeoutFM can be built from source and self-hosted. All source code is available at Gitlab and Github and distributed under terms using GNU licenses.
